This show by the Pards was like no other I have seen. They delivered some great songs like Walkin’ the Dog with Sam singing and Don’t Let Me be Misunderstood with Glyn taking the vocals. This is the same Glyn with the magnificent voice, who in conversation says “I sing a bit.”
The regulars know that Sam is reconstructing Australian songs as the basis for their play list. And most present on Sunday knew that for 2 weeks in May they (with Lindsay Field) as Field, See & Mason are performing on a cruise ship departing from Southampton. When they performed on a cruise ship last year, it left from Australia & its audiences knew the songs they sang. Sam expressed concern on Sunday; wondering what Brit audiences might think of them. He was wearing a leery shirt, totally suitable for a cruise out of Oz. He tested the theme for the old TV programme Skippy on the crowd, expecting all to sing. We did & laughed a lot.
The pair had fun, delivered some great music peppered with lively banter giving the crowd a lovely late afternoon’s entertainment.
