As any regular readers will know, currently I am posting quizzes to this site after they have been completed by local cafe staff & that this all started because one of them is a Kiwi but he doesn’t know much about NZ music.
The La De Da’s …
The band formed as the Mergers in West Auckland in 1964 with Kevin Borich, Trevor Wilson and Brett Neilsen (who all went to the same high school). Soon after Phil Key joined.
- Which high school did Kevin, Trevor & Brett go to?
- How did Phil surprise & impress the others?
- Whose mother suggested they call themselves the La De Da’s?
- Their first tv appearance (in 1965) was singing Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines. Why did they agree to do this?
- Who had been watching them play around Auckland & joined on keyboards turning the band into a 5-piece?
- Which NZ music magazine had them on the front cover in October 1966?
- Name their second album.
- What was the big hit they had in 1971?
- Which original member died in 1984?
- There are three characters named in The Place which is a track from the 1975 album Rock ‘n’ Roll Sandwich. One of these characters is thought to be a recording star who is up against the bar. What is his name? Who are the other two?
The answers will be posted on Wednesday.
