Ray Columbus: the end of an era

Ray Columbus died this week following a series of significant health issues over a number of years. He was 74.

He (& the Invaders) were part of the first exodus of NZ musicians to come to Australia in the early 60s. Their first trip here was at the end of 1963. That was a short stint but they returned again the following year. The band only lasted until 1966 yet it always seems that they were around a lot longer.

‘Til We Kissed’ will always be the song that I most remember him for. I loved that song when it came out in 1965.

There are some good accounts of his life; the best at Audio Culture
