He had been ill for sometime so many in the music industry knew his death was imminent.

He became known as a singer in the early 60s. The young band the Rebels were in need of a singer. Their management put an ad in the paper. Larry applied, auditioned & not long after became frontman for the band.

As a frontman he was extremely good. He had it all. Good looking. Great voice. With the band behind him the five of them surged ahead. They released so many 45rpms that they were allowed to record originals on the B-sides. He wrote these with lead guitarist John Williams.

Early in 1967 they scored a spot as a support on the Yardbirds-Walker Brothers-Roy Orbison tour of NZ. This was in the time the now legendary Jimmy Page was a Yardbird. That same year they toured Australia as one of the support acts on the Easybeats home coming tour. And in 1968, again in Australia, they played at the Moomba Festival in front of a huge crowd.

After he left Larry’s Rebels, he worked with 2 different bands that he formed. He spent time out of NZ, and time in jail in NZ, but even after the latter he bounced back. In all he spent something like 50 years in the music industry.
