I have been reading the book ‘Abbey Road’ by David Hepworth (Penguin Books, 2022). I hadn’t realized until I had read almost the entire book that in the digital era the Kiwi software engineer, James Clarke worked there. At one point he announced to other staff that he wanted to ‘de-mix’ tracks ….. the other staff laughed at him. In essence he applied science & succeeded in achieving what he wanted. This was in the era the studio was converting albums to CD format.
But I did know that Mike Rudd when he was with Ariel had recorded there. Ariel was there to record ‘Jellaband Mutant’ but EMI were not happy allowing the band to record a sci-fi concept album. So they said no! But Ariel still had studio time so they re-recorded some older songs & added a few new ones. The resulting album was Rock & Roll Scars. The mix engineer was Geoff Emerick who had worked with the Beatles & the Assistant Engineer was Spike Milligan’s son. Producer Peter Dawkins was there too & claimed his work on this album was the high point of his production career.

Be-Bop Deluxe recorded ‘Ships in the Night’ in 1976. Charlie Tumahai was in that band but I am unsure whether he was with them at that recording at Abbey Road.
