My scouts had been at it again ………………. & had found another Kiwi musician for me to interview; a man who came to Australia in the right era for the book.

But the afternoon I met him (to interview him) he was sitting waiting for me in Basement Discs wearing his Tommy Adderley Benefit Show t-shirt. It had been so long since I had last seen anyone wearing one of those.

Dave came to Melbourne in 1970 after the Invercargill band he was in (the Unknown Blues: at times reported to be the wildest band in the land) called it a day. They had been influenced by both the Stones & the Pretty Things & during the 90s Dave had the good fortune to be in a band with ex-Pretty Things bassist, John Stax.

Interviewing him was a joy & I was really looking forward to hearing him play with Heinous Hounds at the Cherry Bar sometime soon.
