They were back to tout their musical prowess, their crowd drawing power & their sheer skill to deliver a fun afternoon & enjoy themselves at the same time.
The pub was packed with more people than I have ever seen there before. The booze was flowing, food was being purchased & delivered, the crowd was animated … The new owners should have been been very pleased.
LINDSAY FIELD; GLYN MASON; SAM SEE
The band worked hard, played hard, sang up a storm, had the crowd singing, up dancing … They delivered Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again as they have been recently & got the correct responses, though the crowd did need reminding to keep responding after their initial burst.
These days it’s the end of the last set & the encores that are such fun. At one point Sam was in the driving seat & Glyn was heard to say that they (he & Lindsay) were keeping up. The snippets that go into those final songs get the crowd laughing as they try to sing. Imagine Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport then Georgy Girl in the middle of Take A Long Line or Climb Every Mountain punctuating Highway to Hell …
I wanted more music & felt a bit cheated that the new owners’ system is to get bands to deliver 2 sets not 3 like we have all come to expect from Field, See & Mason. We hope they get to play at the Oak again & hope that they get booked to do 3 hours (3 sets) not 2.
