We have just learnt that Kiwi-born Leo De Castro has died after experiencing poor health for a number of years. His contribution to music in the time he was in Australia was huge.
He joined the Browns in 1969 when he arrived, moved on to Leo & Friends then helped form King Harvest which included two fellow-Kiwis John Williams (l) & Garry Clarke (b). Footage exists on YouTube of Leo singing Wichita Lineman with an early line-up of King Harvest.
Over the time he lived in Australia he worked in lots of different bands. Several times he worked with Charlie Tumahai – one of those occasions in a later line-up of Friends.
