The show must go on …

Despite group leader Steve Lucas having pneumonia the show did in fact go on. And what a show it was. It really rocked. Steve sang the first song as he usually does then admitted defeat with the singing, handing this task over to the others. He remained seated, playing his guitar but looking as pale as his blonde hair. He was however still in charge.

Usually there a 4 singers in this band so one down wasn’t an issue. Kiwi Dave & the US bass player Jerome Smith took on more of the introductions & thanks & they & Matt Dwyer sang more often.

At one point the 3 guitarists (Steve, Jerome & Matt) plus that afternoon’s substitute drummer launched into Daktari. OMG! Dave wisely flung his arms in the air & declared he couldn’t be part of that. It was followed by all performing Jump Jive then luckily for Dave fans he later sang 2 songs back to back; round the time the show ramped up several more notches.

The Cherry was packed that afternoon & the usually generous dance floor had just a slither of space left for the dancers.
