After so long, Dragon seen again (at Crown) …

This show had been re-scheduled twice. I had tickets for the 2nd of these on June 5, 2021 & early in the show, vocalist-frontman Mark Williams told the crowd they hadn’t performed since June 2021.

The advertised 7.30pm start meant that in fact the show did start then … Well, 7.31pm. Lots of the crowd arrived late cos they didn’t believe the show would really start at 7.30pm. Luckily, after an extensive search some hours before the show I’d found the running order on line …

Generally, at that venue there is policing of people taking photos but that didn’t seem to be an issue that night. It was people standing & dancing who were told to return to their seats.

Sat very close to the front. I’ve been close to the band before but never that close, so I was in a prime spot to enjoy them as they delivered all the favourites, starting with Still in Love & ending as always with Are You Old Enough. As Mark introduced Sunshine (song 4 for the show) he told people to sing along. And no-one ever hesitates to sing at a Dragon show. I love the fact that people expect to sing their hearts out & sing happily. With April Sun in Cuba he told the crowd we hadn’t got it quite right so we had to sing it again. Until he was satisfied. We nailed it on Take 2.

Mark Williams & Bruce Reid

There were a few different songs in the sets like Mark’s 1990 hit Show No Mercy which back in the day was not recorded by Dragon.

Great show. So good that live music is back again for the taking.
