Melbourne has had a number of great gigs already this year and it’s only February 9. In late January Field, See and Mason did the first of their Sunday afternoon gigs at the Royal Oak Hotel in North Fitzroy.

They are such an accomplished trio of singers. Their performances are full of life with a bit of mischief thrown in, mostly from Sam See.
On Tuesday this week Double Shot of Blues were the featured guests at the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society jam night. The classic blues they play never fails to impress me. They are making good progress with the recording of the new CD. I have heard some of the tracks from it. One titled ‘Blue Jeans Blues’ is first class. Watch out for the release of this CD.

Then sandwiched between those two gigs was the Bruce Springsteen show, the first of the two he played in Melbourne. Oh boy, can that man deliver!! Now aged 67, he played for just under three hours, barely pausing for a moment between songs.
The year has begun well. Coming up next month there are two Melbourne shows by Dragon with Mi-Sex on the same bill. These two shows at the Memo Music Hall in St Kilda.
