How wonderful to go to a Kevin Borich Express gig again. Last time he was in Melbourne doing shows was in a break between all the lockdowns last year.

He has a new 3-CD compilation out, titled Legacy. It features re-mastered versions of songs he has done previously & embraces 3 themes; hot, chill & live. Yesterday’s show included lots from these CDs so it was very different from his shows of the previous 7 years. And as the show featured songs from these CDs there was no acoustic set to start. It was straight in & electric.

There was a big crowd at the Newport Bowls Club for this event, most 50-plus & lots of blokes. Lots of the songs played in the 1st set were lesser known but songs like the La De Da’s Morning Good Morning & a favourite of mine Shy Boys Shy Girls were in there.

KB had dancers on the floor in front of the band as he’d requested for some of the 2nd set & some dancers were blokes comfortable in their own skins, dancing on their own or blokes dancing with mates. Towards the end of the 2nd set lots of favourites were aired: Gonna See My Baby Tonight, Goin’ Down Town, Goin’ Somewhere & lesser known songs like Love My Love.
