Same pub. Same drummer as last week. Different band. Mike is frequently with Spectrum, at times with the Indelible Murtceps but he called last night’s band the Indelibles. I think I’ve been accustomed to Mike at a show delivering just one set cos so often recently Spectrum has been double-billed with Madder Lake. So two sets …
There were lots of blokes in the crowd. Which many years ago Mike told me often happened. Almost all present were engaged with the band, listening intently. Except for one woman who had her back to the stage.
They played things from the the different eras & different bands. We heard lots from the Ariel era like Rock & Roll Scars and Red Hot Momma plus We Are Indelible from the Indelible Murtceps back catalogue. Zavier Rudd Is Not My Son (from the Spectrum Breathing Space Too album) got an airing as well. I don’t think I’ve ever heard that played live before. And they played my favourite Mike song, that one about the naughty Esmeralda.
