Well-known TV presenter Brian Henderson has died

Dunedin-born he worked in radio in NZ before travelling to Sydney in 1953. There his first job was as a newsreader and he remained a news presenter for Channel 9 in Sydney from 1957 for 45 years, and was said to be the longest serving news presenter.

He is important to Kiwi bands & singers as from its start in November 1958, he was the host of the long running TV show Bandstand. Many Kiwis appeared on that show with him out front for the full 14 years of its existence. He championed & supported many Kiwis including Dinah Lee.

He died this week aged 89.
