I’m always curious about how people use their time. I guess that’s part of being an Occupational Therapist (OT) & purposeful use of time being one of the things the OTs frequently address. Below are the things I know about but I suspect other Kiwi musicians will be beavering away but doing it quietly.
Barry Leef – Cooking With Baz appears every Saturday night as a 15 – 20 minute show. This is Barry preparing then cooking a meal along with 3 songs from his band. Last weekend was Episode 21. The band each record separately from home then the 4 parts are put together for screening. And as he & the band are NSW-based they also did a pub gig recently.

Dave Miller – in April he was restoring old songs off magnetic tape & re-mastering them into digital form. By late June he’d re-mastered all the music he had previously released on Spin (as the Dave Miller Set). This was then digitally released on Amazon.
Dave Russell – has been working on an e-book titled Guitars & Amps, a Buyers Guide that by May was published on Amazon (Kindle).
Dragon – have dates out for a few gigs later this year & some out for early 2021.
Glyn Mason – the Pardoners (Glyn & Sam See) got to do a gig for 20 people in that tiny window just before Melbourne went to Stage 3 lockdown, compulsory mask wearing then Stage 4 lockdown. And they have taken a ‘leef’ from Barry’s book & have recently recorded songs (with each recording at home) & put these up on the Pardoners’ website. I was delighted to see Little Ray from Sunshine was up there. It was a crowd favourite at their gigs in the lead-up to the 1st lockdown.
Kevin Borich – has been busy. Cos he’s Queensland-based he has done a recent gig at the local drive-in. He’s done some Q & A sessions with fans on Facebook and he’s been recording new songs. One he hopes to release very soon is The Fires inspired by a mate who is a farmer who lost lots in the summer fires. And the weekend of Sept 18 – 20 he is playing twice at the Mitchell Creek Festival in Queensland.
