Wired for Sound

Wired for Sound (by Grant Gillanders & Robyn Welsh) chronicles the role of the Stebbing family in music in NZ from the 1940s to the present day. The book is huge, comprehensive & beautifully presented. It contains squillions of great photos, many of them never seen before. When you buy your copy check out that early one of Dragon showing Marc Hunter at his mischievous best.

As well as giving the Stebbing history, the book contains entries about many NZ stars of the 60s & 70s plus information about various Auckland music venues of that era. It even has an entry about Gene Pierson who was one of the handful of Australian performers in NZ in the 60s.

I recommend anyone interested in reading about the NZ music scene of the 60s & 70s purchases this book. You won’t regret it.
