Snippets …

… about Kiwi musicians aged in their 60s or 70s who are still busy & productive in Australia. As you know from the last blog entry below, it was 1969 when bands like the Rebels (including John Williams & Glyn Mason), Simple Image, Retaliation (including Barry Leef) came to Australia. It was earlier when people like Johnny Devlin, the Chants R&B (including Mike Rudd & Trevor Courtney), Dinah Lee & the La De Da’s (including Kevin Borich) came.

Mike Rudd – it is now 50 years since he formed Spectrum in Melbourne. There have been several celebration shows of that magnificent achievement in the last few months.

Roger McLachlan has been performing again with Stars, who my spies tell me are just getting better & better.

Dave Hogan regularly plays harmonica & sings with the Heinous Hounds who deliver such great music.

Kevin Borich is known to be working on a new album with other musicians & has a series of shows coming up later this year.

John Rowles (now Sir John) will be in Melbourne performing at a show at Memo in November.

Field, See & Mason (Lindsay Field, Sam See & Glyn Mason) are doing several gigs in the next few months, including shows on a sold-out Rock the Boat cruise Oct 19 – Oct 26. And the Pardoners (Sam & Glyn) have also got a number of gigs coming up.

John Williams (with his band DoubleShot of Blues) are appearing on Asylum TV (Ch 31) on Saturday Aug 17. They are doing the whole 30-minute programme.

Gus Fenwick is working on an album.

Dragon (including Todd Hunter & Mark Williams)  continue to tour & will be back in Melbourne doing shows in both October & November.
