Last month shows he did included those in Sydney, Hobart, Ballarat & Melbourne. I saw him at the two Melbourne shows: Saturday Oct 15 at Caravan then Sunday afternoon/early evening Oct 16 at Musicland. The shows were so different. Saturday night Kevin Borich Express had the addition of James Black, of RocKwiz fame, on keyboard. The dynamic between the Kevin & Jack was stunning. Jack (complete with Stetson) mostly kept his eyes on his keyboard. In the instrumental breaks Kevin’s delight showed in his face as the pair egged each other on, giving the audience the impression that the limits hadn’t yet been attained: that they could go louder, longer …
This show had the regular format: acoustic first set followed by an electric second set but on Sunday because of a previously determined cut-off point (to allow for the evening show by another band) Kevin & the Melbourne musicians making up the band that day played one continuous set; for close to two hours. It began with a couple of quieter songs then moved to electric; the energy building higher & higher as the afternoon wore on.
Now his focus is ‘The Last Waltz’ shows in NZ; the celebration of the final show by The Band: 40 years on. He’s involved in rehearsals in Auckland today & tomorrow; then back to Australia for Kevin Borich Express gigs in Grafton (Nov 18); Lismore (Nov 19) back to NZ for ‘The Last Waltz’ shows in Christchurch (Nov 22); Wellington (Nov 23); Auckland (Nov 24) before flying to NSW for his Sydney Harbour Show Cruise (Nov 25).
