Field, See & Mason: the cruise

As regular readers of this blog know, Field, See & Mason were playing on a Rock the Boat cruise out of Southampton this month.

I caught up with Glyn Mason inĀ  London 2 days after the end of the cruise which had gone to Spain with stops at places like Lisbon & Bilbao (then returning to the UK without further stops.) This cruise focused on ’80s music: not a trip for the over 80 year olds, as one old bloke Glyn spoke to thought it was going to be.

This was the first cruise the trio had done out of the UK. Headliners were bands like Go West & there was a Rod Stewart cover band, a Tina Turner cover band, an Eric Clapton cover band …… But there were a number of other Australian musicians on board too.

Each evening Field, See & Mason played in the Star Room which was the second largest room. On the first night, Glyn noted things were a bit quiet but by the last night the crowd couldn’t get enough of them. They did a mix of covers & originals like they do in their regular gigs. For the cruise it was 80% covers.

In his understated way, Glyn summed the cruise & gigs up with three words: “It was good.”
