Field, See & Mason (Lindsay Field; Sam See & Glyn Mason) at the Royal Oak Sunday April 22, 2018

It seems ages since I have seen all three in action. And I guess it was back in January. I had seen the Pardoners play since but that is just Glyn & Sam.

The three of them were in fine fettle, delivering a wider repertoire of songs and they were all in brilliant form vocally. Their tight harmonies were a delight to hear and at moments early in the performance, their vocals were unaccompanied. But Sam’s banter was missing. He was so quiet this had been remarked on at the table … then at the end of the first set his quirky humour appeared. Phew!!

The energy in the room was up very early. There was a big crowd and right from the start people were dancing.

The trio delivered a great bracket of their versions of Oz classics like Paul Kelly’s ‘Leaps & Bounds’ and Oz anthems like ‘Great Southern Land’, ‘Living in the Land of Oz’ and their version of the Mike Rudd (Spectrum) hit ‘I’ll Be Gone’.

We were surprised to hear a very PC version of ‘Whiter Shade of Pale’ but the cruise out of the UK is almost upon them. They depart the UK on May 6 for 7 days on the water. They are so polished. So ready. Those lucky cruise passengers will get great performances from a band that will be brilliant on another cruise ship.

Best of luck guys. We hope that good things come of this cruise & you meet people who know people who …
